In the Nelson County Order Book 1841-1845 on page 435 is recorded: "George D. He owned 200 Acres on the Rockfish River on 13 Dec 1805 in Amherst Co, Va.   He appeared on the census of 1810, 1820 and 1830 in Nelson Co, Va.   He owned 118 Acres in Buffaloe, Amherst Co on 4 Oct 1832 in Buffaloe, Amherst Co, Va.   He also owned 107 Acres Buffaloe, Amherst Co on 3 May 1838 in Buffaloe, Amherst Co, Va.  This property was sold by Daniel and his wife Nancy of Nelson County, to Zachariah Drummond, for $248.   A search of Nelson county probate records by K. F. Lindsey, Deputy Clerk of the Circuit Court of Nelson County, found an entry in 1839 for an appointment of an administrator for Daniel Leebrick.  There is also an entry for an accounting.   Daniel clearly died intestate, which is without a will.   He had an estate probated on 27 Apr 1839 in Nelson Co, Va.

Inventory and appraisement of the personal estate of Daniel Leebrick, made the 27th day of April 1839, with final settlement  of the estate in September of 1846:

This inventory and appraisement of the Estate of Daniel Leebrick dec’d. was this day presented in said court and the same was ordered to be recorded.  An addendum was filed some months later, reporting that more than 600 hogsheads of tobacco  (a hogshead being about 1000 lbs. each) were being stored at the Tye River Warehouse, and that the warehouse was in poor repair.  The implication was that the tobacco would not be worth much if it remained there much longer.  In the lengthy accounting of bills presented to Daniel's estate, are included bills from Winston Purviz for making a coffin.

Daniel was listed in the 1815 Virginia Landowners Directory, Volume 1 (Central Region) Nelson County, with the entry: "Liebrich, Daniel; Rockfish RV; 8SE" apparently meaning 8 miles SE of the county seat, Lovingston, on the Rockfish River.  Daniel established an "Ordinary" on the property.  In local terms, that is a tavern and rooming house.  The bonds for an ordinary begin in 1809 and continued through at least 1837.   In the later years, his name appeared on the list of "ordinary keepers and houses of private entertainment".  He says that there were three more children born in Virginia: Catherine Ann, Nicholas and Frederick.

In the property tax records of Nelson County, four categories of property were listed: white males above 16 years of age, black males 12-16, black males above 16 and mares, colts and other animals.  From 1809-1812, we see 1 white male listed and 1 animal. Beginning in 1818, we see another animal added and 2 blacks over 16.  In 1821 another white male is added. In 1828 there are 3 white males and 3 animals. In 1831, there was a young black added.  In 1836, the animals were back down to 2. In 1839, there were no more young black men, but were now 4 adult black men and 3 animals.  Based on averages in the property listings, there were usually twice as many black men listed as white men, and three times as many animals as white men.

Generation 7

John Phillip Nicholas LEEBRICK  was born on 3 Mar 1747 in Butzbach, Hesse, Germany.  He paid tax in 1769 and also paid tax in 1779 in Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.   His occupation was given as a saddler.  He died on 24 Apr 1788 in Manheim, Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.  He was buried in 1788 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, Pa.  Row F,  A is at street, one row behind his parents, stone 28 starting at church.

The stone reads:
“All Hier Ruhet  In Gott Johan Philip  Nicolaus Liebrich Welcher Im Jahr  Ano 1747 den 3 Marz In Butzbach  Gebohren (Geboren)  Gaben Den 24 Apr 1788”

English translation:
"All here rest in God Johan Philip Nicholas Liebrich which In the year of our Lord 1747 the 3rd of March in Butzbach was born….. (Gave) Died the 24th of April 1788 "

He served in Captain Abraham Forey's company, Rapho Township, Lancaster County, Third Battalion of Pennsylvania Militia under Col. Alexander Lowery.  Company was formed on August 16, 1777, saw action at Brandywine Creek Pa. and returned March 17, 1778 with no loss of life.  (Pennsylvania Archives, Fifth Series, Vol VII, pages192-196, Pennsylvania Women in the American Revolution by William Egle, pp105-107)

He had an estate probated from 1788 to 1797.  An inventory of Nicholas' estate was presented to the Lancaster Courts on 31 May 1788.  Value totaled £324, plus about £7 from items sold at auction, plus about £9 in rent from Noah Ceasy. Among the expenses paid from the estate were claims by Valentine Gardner, Daniel Brautigam and Charles Wilstach, which were brothers-in-law of Nicholas.   Nicholas is reported to have been a merchant in Manheim, Pa. living there throughout his life.  He apparently did quite well. He died intestate.  By June 27, 1797 his property had still not been distributed and his son John petitioned the court for a distribution.

Nicholas Liebrich bought two parcels of property on February 1, 1774 from Henry W. Stiegel and family in Manheim. One parcel was purchased for 10 pounds lawful money and was lot #6 in the original city plan, about two acres.  At the time of purchase, it was bounded by the lots of Anthony Brets, Long Alley, and John Longnecker.  The second parcel was purchased for 20 pounds lawful money, and was lot numbers 10 and 11.  At the time of purchase, it was bounded by High Street, the lot of Christoph Ream, Prussian Street and a lot owned by Henry Custer. On May 15, 1775, Nicholas purchased an additional parcel in Manheim from Michael Differiderfer and wife. This parcel was purchased for 25 pounds lawful money and was identified as lot 117 in the general plan, in turn made up of in lots 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48.  At the time of purchase, the parcel was bounded by High street, Pitt Street, Turn Alley and land of Jacob Reiff.

On February 6, 1776, he bought yet another parcel from the estate of Casper Schebely, Sebastian Witmer executor. This parcel was purchased for sixteen pounds, 1 shilling lawful money, and was for lot number 59.  At the time of purchase it was bounded by land owned by Jacob Reif, Chesnut Alley, Benjamin Mishey and contained 2 acres and 13 perches. This lot was originally purchased by Mr. Schebely from Henry Stiegel in 1762 (at the founding of Manheim).

Finally, on April 17 of 1784, Nicholas and two other men (Andrew Hoover and Phillip Brown) bought property from John Heans in Warwick Twp, Lancaster County.  This property totalled 180 acres, more or less, and was described as a "Tenement Plantation".  The three men paid 450 pounds in cash and signed a note to pay the remaining 450 pounds by June 29, 1802.

On 27 July 1773, Nicholas Liebrich was elected to the position of administrator at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.   Nicholas was re-elected to the office of administrator. Henry William Stiegel, trustee, removed to Warwick Township that year, so on December 6, 1778, the congregation elected William Smith in his place.  At the same time three new elders were elected, namely, Nicholas Liebrich and Jacob Taubenberger and Martin Gross. The register also indicates some financial gifts made to the church by Nicholas and some funds received by Nicholas for use by the church.

From Joan McClasky, a descendant of Appolonia Liebrich: "last year we were lucky enough to get to see the minister's records at Zion Lutheran church in Manheim. It seems this minister wrote what he thought of his parishioners in his records.  I could not believe that, after Nichoals Liebrich being an elder of the church, the ministry listed him as a trouble maker, and at one point called him wicked”.  About that time we only see Nicholas' wife Catherine attending church and receiving communion.  It appears that Nicholas and the minister did not see eye to eye!”

He was married to Catherine FRANKS on 8 May 1767 in Dauphin Co, PA.
Children were: John Nicholas LEEBRICK, Anna Margaret LEEBRICK, Daniel Henry LEEBRICK, John Phillip LEEBRICK, George LEEBRICK, Elizabeth LEEBRICK, Catherine LEEBRICK, Mary (Maria) LEEBRICK, Salome (Sarah) LEEBRICK

Generation 8

John Phillip LEEBRICK  was born on 15 Jan 1702 in Butzbach, Hesse, Germany.  He was the first member of our Leebrick family to arrive in America.  He arrived in Philadelphia on the ship "Adventure" out of Hamburg Germany on 25 Sept.1754.  He emigrated to Pennsylvania settling in Manheim Lancaster County, where he passed the remainder of his life.  He paid tax in 1770 in Lancaster, Lancaster Co. Pa.   He died on 17 Sep 1785 in Manheim, Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.  He had an estate probated in 1786.  His estate included a Continental Loan Office Certificate dated 21 May 1779 for $800 Dollars.

He was buried in Manheim, Rapho Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa. Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.  Row E (A is at street side), Stone 20 (starts at church). The Leebrick stones are mostly red sandstone and about the fifth row back from the street and more or less centered.  One stone in German is Johannes Liebrich. Church records show he was born 15 January 1702 in Mannheim, Germany and died 17 September 1785, age 82 years 8 months 2 days in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

The church record of burials was compiled in 1942 from grave stones, some of which were severely eroded.  Also the early ones were written in German.  In the church record is a Catharina Liebrich, born February 1, 1717, died December 9, 1785 who was his wife.  John and Catharine had five children, John Philip Nicholas Liebrich, born 1748 and four daughters.  The first was Apollonia, who married Valentine Gardner; the second, Mary Elizabeth, who married Daniel Newman 15 December 1775; the third, Hannetta, who married Charles Wilsbach, and the fourth Margaret, who married Daniel Briligam.

His will, recorded in the Lancaster County courthouse, Lancaster Pa. was drawn 30 April 1785.

Generation 1

Wayne Frederick TRICKETT  was born August 3, 1948 in Washington D.C.   My birth parents were William Joseph VOGEL born 12-25-1921 - died 6-23-1976 and Doris Elizabeth (LEEBRICK) VOGEL, born 1-12-1922 - died 10-16-1948. Doris and her four children were in a house fire 9-5-1948.   Sadly, due to injuries  suffered in that fire, she died on 10-16-1948.  I was about one month old at the time of that fire.  Doris was buried in Arlington National Cemetery on 10-19-1948.  William VOGEL was buried in Arlington Cemetery 6-28-1976 with his wife Doris Elizabeth.

Doris Elizabeth (LEEBRICK) VOGEL and Joyce Marie (LEEBRICK) TRICKETT were cousins within the large LEEBRICK family.   For reasons unknown to me, William VOGEL did not continue to raise his four young children, Billy aged 6, Carol aged 5, Ernie aged 4 and Wayne aged 2 months, after Doris’s death.

Consequently three of the older Vogel children, Billy, Carol and Ernie were raised by their grandmother Ruby Elizabeth (Melrose) LEEBRICK and her son, their uncle, John Nicholas LEEBRICK Jr.,  Doris’s older brother.   He has always been called “Uncle Johnny” by all our family.   I, being an infant, was adopted within the family by Joyce Marie (LEEBRICK) TRICKETT and Edison TRICKETT.    It could appear that kismet or destiny played a role in my future in 1948, as Edison and Joyce would lose their first born child, a son, who was born and Died on 10-11-1949.

Edison and Joyce raised their new infant son and as time took its course their family grew also.   Brother Ronald Lynn TRICKETT (Ron) was born in 1950; sister Joyce Marie TRICKETT (Sissy) was born in 1952; sister Marlena Jane TRICKETT (Mar) was born in 1954 and sister Virginia Faye TRICKETT (Ginny) was born in 1961.

I was raised with wonderful family connections to all of my Trickett/Leebrick relatives, including those with Ruby LEEBRICK as "Aunt Ruby", John Nicholas LEEBRICK Jr. as "Uncle Johnny" and Billy, Carol and Ernie as my "cousins".  Being raised by Joyce and Edison TRICKETT gave all the advantages that I could hope for,  these being a life with loving parents, brothers and sisters, grandmothers and grandfathers, plus a myriad of caring relatives to be taught by, protected by and even chastised by, always with love and my best interests at heart.

He married (1) Shelley Rae EICKENBERG  in Washington D.C. on May 31,1969.
They had the following children: Aaron Scott TRICKETT born May 19, 1971 - died May 23, 2008,
Matthew Edison TRICKETT born April 1, 1975,  Sarah Kathleen TRICKETT born June  15, 1977

He also married (2) Pamela Lohr ROBERTS  in Leesburg VA. on December 24,1986

Birth Parents were: William Joseph VOGEL and Doris Elizabeth (LEEBRICK) VOGEL
Adoptive Parents were: Edison TRICKETT and Joyce Marie (LEEBRICK) TRICKETT

Sometime by the early 1930’s Frank moved his family to Washington D.C. and during the 1940’s moved their family to close by District Height Md.
