The previous TRICKETT and LEEBRICK family history pages essentially cover me within my family.  My research on  my  VOGEL family history is unknown by me to confirm anything more.  I will however  give below, some of my reflections  on my kinship to the LEEBRICK/VOGEL families.

As a young boy I was raised as a cousin of Ernie, Carol  and Billy Vogel.  They along with my birth grandmother “Aunt  Ruby" Leebrick,  her son 'Uncle Johnny', John Nicholas Leebrick and Rita, were always a part of my family and are still in my memories.

I  can be somewhat specific, especially in regard to Ernie, who was a lifelong friend as well as being my birth brother.  As young boys he and I would spend a week or so in the summer at each others homes.  His time with my family was spent first in the  “woods” of 7777 Walker Mill Rd. and later in District Heights Md.   My time visiting him was spent in the more suburban area of Montgomery County Md. We had some wonderful times mutually in those days, spending them as young boys will.  Whether hiking in the woods, playing in creeks and ponds or swinging on rope swings, we always had great fun.  Likewise, bike riding was always great  entertainment too!

Ernie, who never forgot a family member or friend, continued to visit me into adulthood.  We spent many deluxe   "Huck Finn" type of days fishing on the upper Potomac River.  He was known then by my friends and  I as “BaWaNa”, the “Tarzan” of the river.  He had, in spite of any personal tribulation the ability to laugh and enjoy life.  He will always be my big  brother, the original "Fonz"  of the 50’s and I miss him.

Other memories I have are of Billy and Uncle “Snookie’s” adventures.   As a young boy they took me to the annual Yellow Cab family picnic at Chesapeake Beach at which I had a ball!   I remember as a young kid  Carol trying to teach me how to dance  in Ernie’s bedroom.  I  think "Elvis Presley" was on the 45rpm record player that night!

I don’t have many keepsakes or photos from the Vogel family.  They exist mostly in my memories as stated above.  Having little to no information on William and  Doris,  I present here  what I have.  I am  compiling this archive for my children and grandchildren,  so they will know something about their large and varied family heritage.

The kindness always shown to me by Aunt Ruby, Uncle Johnny, Carol, Ernie, Billy and Rita, leaves me grateful to have been there to enjoy the love I was given.  Thank you, with love, for all you have meant to our families.
